Nexia Hawke’s Bay is pleased to announce the appointment of Alasdair MacLeod as an Independent Director to its Board.
Known for his pragmatic approach and broad commercial perspective, Alasdair strengthens our governance team with his strategic insight and leadership experience across diverse industries.
With a career spanning engineering, energy, technology, and professional services, Alasdair began as a Civil Engineer before moving into senior roles in the electricity and IT sectors. He went on to establish and lead New Zealand’s first national electricity retail company, First Electric, and later became a Partner at Deloitte, where he spent more than a decade advising organisations on strategy, growth, and transformation.
Since relocating to Hawke’s Bay, Alasdair has continued to play a key role in both business and community life. He chaired Napier Port through its successful IPO and the development of a $200m wharf, and today chairs several organisations including Tradewindow and Silverstripe, and has recently stepped down as Chair from Hawke’s Bay Regional Economic Development Agency (REDA), and Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawke’s Bay. He also serves as an Independent Director on the Board Appointments Committee for IHC and is Chairman of the Board at Kotahi Engineering Studio.
Nexia Hawke’s Bay Managing Director, Ben Gilmour, says the firm is delighted to welcome Alasdair to the Board, noting that his appointment is a significant addition that will bring real value through his insight and experience.
“Alasdair’s extensive governance experience and proven leadership across multiple sectors will add real depth to our decision-making and strengthen the way we deliver for our clients.”
“His past roles leading national primary sector strategist work, coupled with his long involvement with Product Groups across horticulture, are especially valuable to us given our strong client base in agribusiness. His understanding of regional priorities and opportunities ensures our strategic direction is closely aligned with the needs of our clients and community.”
“With Alasdair joining us, we’re better positioned than ever to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. His ability to bring together commercial acumen, strategic foresight, and practical problem-solving will be instrumental in supporting the long-term growth of our firm and our clients,” says Ben.
The firm looks forward to Alasdair’s contribution as it continues to partner with clients across the region and beyond.
