Professional experience

Promoted to Partner in 2023, Philip works in the Business Advisory division at Nexia New Zealand. He joined Nexia in 2015 after starting his professional career at another global accounting and advisory firm.

Personable and pragmatic, Philip enjoys the challenge of getting to know a business, understanding its performance, and developing a plan to achieve the desired objectives. He works with businesses operating across a wide range of industries, and he has numerous clients in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

With expertise in transaction advisory services, Philip steers clients through the process of buying and selling a business. In addition, he can help with the interpretation and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Originally from the UK, Philip emigrated to New Zealand while he was at school. Before beginning his career as an accountant, he spent five years serving in the NZ Defence Force both on home soil and overseas.

In 2024, Philip received the ‘Hall of Fame’ award from the University of Canterbury School of Accounting and Taxation. This award celebrates alumni who have demonstrated remarkable success in their accounting careers within 10 years of graduating.

Outside of work, Philip likes to spend time with family and friends, he is a passionate football supporter and he enjoys hiking, hunting and fishing.
